So You Want To Go Ghost Hunting?

You are wanting to go ghost hunting, but do not know where to begin. Having gone on many ghost hunts, one of the first things regarding ghost hunting you should know is, learn to pay attention to what you feel. Do not write off thoughts that you may consider as crazy or even as your own. Consider all thoughts that “pop” into your head and their source. Do not walk in fear. Begin learning to be aware of spirit through meditation or prayer. One who is aware of spirit will sense when spirit is present. I can feel the presence of spirit physically through “goose bumps” sometimes. Other times, it is a “rushing feeling” within my deepest being. Sometimes it is simply just a “knowing.” God is spirit and we are spirit – part of the whole. Therefore, we can feel different parts of the whole. You are the most important instrument you can use to sense the paranormal.

Spirit may be “sensed” at any time or any place. It does not have to be at night; but you do have to have a clear and open mind. If you are preoccupied, angry or depressed, you will struggle to sense anything at all. Also, spirit can sense spirit – you. The wrong frame of mind may deter spiritual
activity. Remember, like minds attract like minds. Ghosts are simply people without a physical body. If you are a being of light, you will attract beings of light. If you are walking in darkness, then darkness will be attracted to you. Be alert and quiet your mind. What thoughts have infiltrated your mind during the ghost hunt, that you know were not your own? Spirits often speak through thoughts…did you hear a ghost speaking?

Follow your heart – investigate the building, room or area you are drawn to. What places seem to come to mind or interest you? What opportunity has come to you for searching…hunting ghosts? Go there. And always be willing to learn and grow spiritually through spiritual experiences. Seek them and they will find you. Be respectful and announce you come in peace. Do not be afraid to speak out and ask permission to photograph the spiritual realm. Take photos, video and voice recordings if you like and try to capture evidence of the paranormal.

Involve others in your spiritual journey and grow spiritually with each other. For safety, ghost hunting should not be done alone. Research the area you wish to investigate. What is the history or legend of the place? Have someone in your group take notes of all that happens…sort of a “spirit secretary.” Record your feelings, happenings and observations. Share thoughts and look for common threads in those thoughts. Are you being spoken to? Be respectful and do not fear questioning that which your eyes do not physically see. “What am I here for? What am I to see? What am I to learn?” But, above all have fun…and do not fear the unknown.

The Role of a Geophone Motion Sensor in Ghost Investigations

There are several different types of equipment that are used during ghost investigations in order to gather evidence that will assist in establishing proof of ghosts. The most common types of equipment include cameras that take real ghost pictures, camcorders that are used in hopes of capturing true ghost video, and even digital voice recorders and other types of recording tools that are used in order to capture real ghost sounds. Recently, a new piece of equipment has been added to the ghost investigator’s wish list. This device is referred to as a geophone motion sensor.

If you are interested in becoming a ghost hunter and establishing proof of ghosts, it is important to know and understand the role of a geophone motion sensor in ghost investigations. This type of tool works by converting energy that is considered to be seismic in nature into voltage that is electrical based. In other words, it takes vibrations that are in close proximity to the device and converts it into data that can actually be measured and recorded. When translating the word “Geophone”, it actually means “Earth Sound”. This device takes the overall velocity of the vibrations that it picks up on and then transfers those vibrations into an electrical based signal.

Inside of the geophone motion sensors that are used during ghost hunting investigations, there is a spring coil that is held in place in a mounting fashion. When it is introduced to a magnetic field, it starts to move. The coil that is contained near the spring remains stationary, but the vibrations continue to travel through the device and the overall inertia results in the weak or the strong signal that is recorded due to the seismic activity that is near the unit. There are typically lights contained on the ghost hunting device that will assist in alerting a ghost investigator that vibrations are occurring within a given area.

Individuals that conduct a ghost study in locations where unusual phenomenon such as unexplained noises, the sounds of footsteps, and any type of vibration has been previously experienced will typically place a geophone motion sensor in these areas as well as a digital recording device that is able to capture photos and video images. Not only will vibrations be picked up, if the supposed spirit that is causing the seismic activity has a high level of energy, the ghost hunter may be able to successfully pick up images such as rods, orbs, and even apparent apparitions associated with the seismic activity. If you are interested in establishing proof of ghosts during ghost investigations, the geophone motion sensor is a must have piece of ghost hunting equipment.

Learn How to “Ghost” Friends and Neighbors for Halloween!

Start a spooky trend by secretly “ghosting” friends and neighbors. Prepare a few treats in a plastic pumpkin or trick-or-treat bag. Be sure you have enough goodies for the kids in each household.

After dark, leave it on their doorstep along with the following instruction sheet and a ghost picture.

The idea is for the people you have ghosted to continue the fun by in turn ghosting others. This way the fun continues on and on …

You can remain anonymous or clue them in after the Halloween fun is over.

Instruction Sheet:

The Phantom ghost has come around

To leave you goodies I see you have found.

If you do not wish a curse to fall

Continue this greeting, this ghostly call.

First, post this ghost where it can be seen

On a door or window until Halloween.

This will keep ghosts from visiting again

Be sure to participate, if you don’t it’s a shame…

Make two treats, two ghosts, two notes – just like this.

Take them to two neighbors who may have been missed.

Don’t let them see you, be sneaky, no doubt.

Check back to be sure that they put their ghost out.

You don’t have much time to act, so be fast!

Leave treats at homes where no ghost has passed!

Deliver after dark, when there’s barely a light…

Ring a doorbell and run, then stay out of sight!!!

And last but not least, come join in the season.

Don’t worry, be happy, you’ll need no good reason.

Be scary, have fun and try not to be seen

And share in the spirit of this

Happy Halloween!!!

My kids and I love ghosting their friends. We go out on a cool fall evening just before Halloween to make our surreptitious deliveries. But that’s only half the fun! The other half is all the speculation they hear the next day at school about who left the goodies.

We then watch to see if their friends put their ghost up and wait to see if just maybe they’ll ghost us back!

Have Fun and Happy Ghosting!
